What ever happened to employee loyalty? You know the type: people who went to work for a company at a young age and then stayed there throughout their entire career. I am sorry to report that those days are long gone. The mantra has become to stay with a company for three years and
then move on. In fact, today if you haven’t changed jobs several times throughout your profession it’s considered a detriment to your career.
One of the biggest problems in corporate America today is what I call the Brain Drain. It is a simple as it sounds – these employees are tapped out. Their brains have been drained. It is amazingly apparent when you look at the number is women who are leaving corporate America to start their own businesses. Why do these talented women leave feeling disenfranchised? The answer is complicated and a result of the employer not understanding the real issues at hand.
Women in the working world have all been taught to work hard, be good at your job and you will get ahead. (Yes, my mother told me this too). The problem is that teaching methodology is simply not true. Hard work will be just that: hard work. Without a game plan in mind, it’s difficult to move ahead even with good results.
Companies have yet to realize their directives for women in corporate America. On one hand, companies say they want women at the top. On the other hand, they stymie their potential and their ability to move up the corporate ladder. So, what can companies do to rectify this dilemma? They can brand themselves by addressing the progress of the female employee –from the top down.
How many times do you find your kitchen small and how many times have you thought of making it little larger, now don’t give it a second thought and just go for it. Take a Home improvement loan. Home Improvement loans are usually borrowed for the purpose of carrying out improvements that will increase the value of the home as well as for repairs that will help hold its value.
There are numerous ways of acquiring home improvement loans:
• Home equity loan
• Secured Home improvement loan
• Bad credit home improvement loan
Home Equity Loan:
In case of home equity loans, you are borrowing money against the value of your home. It is a prudent choice if the home improvement project that you are undertaking increases the value of your home. You can borrow up to 80% of the equity in your house. Home improvement loans must be taken after weighing the pros and cons carefully. One should be able to afford the monthly repayments and ensure that the house is worth more than what you owe for the loan.
It is a loan laid out by either a finance company or bank to finance your home improvement project. You need to pledge your home as collateral in order to avail a secured home improvement loan.
Bad credit home improvement loan:
It is true that if you have a bad credit history then it is difficult to obtain a home improvement loan, but it is not impossible. You can get yourself a home improvement loan even if you have arrears, county court judgments (CCJS), bankruptcies to your credit. Though you will get the home improvement loan but the interest rates would be quite high.
Acquiring a home improvement loan
When going in for a home improvement loan, one should plan the home improvements that he has to carry out. This should include costs of all improvements and the estimates put forth by the contractor. The home improvement you have been thinking of should be thus well planned.
If you work at home, then you spend a lot of time in your home office. It is hard not to when your home and your work are housed under the same roof, so it is important that you make your home office as comfortable as possible. This starts with the decorating. If you don’t know where to start, then maybe you should check out some home office decorating ideas so that you know how to make your home office as pleasant and stress-free as possible.
Below are some home office decorating ideas that you can use to spice up that work space:
* Use color. The last thing you want is to be surrounded by white walls. This isn’t saying that you should paint the walls a dark color. You need bright colors in order to produce a good mood. Let’s face it, bright colors make people happy. It is good to use two colors that compliment each other and then you can base the other décor in the room around those colors.
* Plants also make people happy. Try placing plants in various places around the room. If you want, you could go for a theme such as a safari theme. There is nothing wrong with going with a theme of something you like. Nevertheless, make sure you have plants.
* Speaking of themes in our home office decorating ideas, you can create your own art gallery by adding an art collection to your walls. You can evenly space various photographs and paintings all over the walls. Doing this will give you something to admire when things get a bit stressful.
* Even with your office being at home, you can still have an office with a view. You could have a wall mural painted on your office walls of your favorite city. Then you can have your skyline view from your office chair.
Roof measurement is not hard, but because it occurs in three dimensions instead of two it takes a little more than simple arithmetic. Roof measurement is important if you are considering hiring a Denver roofing contractor for a job because it is a basis for pricing. The total area is how the roofer determines how much roof materials they need.
Except spray foam which starts in two mixable liquids, most roofs are measured in squares. One roofing square is 100 square feet. You do need some geometry to measure areas. The formula for a side of a triangle is area equals half the base times the height. This is useful for end gables which are already triangles. However most roof sections are four sided. So first you will need to determine the length of the angled side of the roof.
You could determine the roof area with just the floor plan but that would take some trigonometry. It could be easier to just clamber upon the roof and get the distance from eave to peak. To help out, divide up pieces of the roof into triangles or rectangles. The rules for these shapes are much easier to calculate. But it is never a bad idea to ask the Denver roofing contractor to check your figures.
To determine the roof slope, you need to break out that old formula from algebra – rise over run. So just take the height of your roof from eaves to peak and put that over the distance from the center of the roof to the eaves. This is your pitch. Another way to calculate it is with a level. Set a level of known proportions (best a one foot level) set one end on the roof and make it level. Then measure the distance to the roof on the other side. That measurement in inches is your rise over 12 for a one foot ruler. Otherwise just divide. If it was 3 inches that would be expresses3/12 or 1/4.
Once you find the total area in square feet, this is divided by 100 to find the number of squares of roofing material the Denver roofer has to order. They will need more the more angles on the roof because some pieces will have to be cut to fit. Extras are also important.
As a retired Denver roofing contractor I like to talk about the roof repair business and what roofing materials work best in some situations. I also write a Denver roofing blog that gives you tips on how to handle a roofing contractor.
Roofing is the craft of installing or maintaining roofs. Those who do this type of work are typically called roofers. The term roofing may also be used to refer to specific types of roofs.
A roof is the uppermost part of a building. Its primary elements for design: construction, material and durability. Construction relies upon the method of support, how the underneath space has been bridged and whether the structure is pitched or not. Most roofs are sloped or pitched. There are several materials that can be used. Some examples: seagrass, straw, banana leaves, aluminum sheeting, laminated glass, precast concrete and ceramic tiles. Durability is important because destruction of the roof can lead to other serious problems.
Roofs serve many functions. They provide insulation to the building that they cover. They insulate against noise, dirt, heat and cold. They also aid in drainage by repelling off water. Keeping water off the roof will help avoid inconvenience and damage. These structures also keep water out of the building. But the primary purpose of this structure is to protect. It protects people and property from weather, especially rain, and its effects.
A roofer, also known as a roof carpenter in Australia or journeyman in the United States, specializes in roof construction. In California, a specific roof licensing process is required for contractors who plan on doing extensive roofing. Aside from licensing requirements, a roofer should not be afraid of heights, have good balance and basic or advanced skills in carpentry.
Training institutes for roofing do exist, but are not always utilized. In fact, many roofers learn the craft through self-teaching, family business experience and mentors. An institute can provide better insight on materials, carpentry and techniques, but formal training is not typically a requirement.
There are several different roof styles. Gable and cross-gabled; and hip, pyramid hip and cross-hipped are some examples. Other common styles include saltbox, gambrel, flat and shed. Choosing what style is both a matter of taste and practicality.
One of the newest forms of roofing systems is solar. This type of system generally includes the use of solar shingles, which generate electricity. In their most complex form, these systems can recover thermal energy, generate electricity and of course, act as roof covering.
There are many materials used in this practice. Some examples of materials: foam, slate, tile, shingles, and metal. In green roofing, plants are utilized as materials as well. Before choosing what materials you want to use for your roof, you will need to decide what style you want. Keep in consideration location, climate, cost, maintenance, desired appearance and the type of roof you currently have.
Problems with the roof can develop. Generally they are a result of poor installation or lack of maintenance. A poorly installed roof can not only cut down the life of a roof, but also cause increased problems. Not maintaining the roof can also cut down its longevity. Common roof problems include, but are not limited to: leaks, blistering, splitting, ridging, billowing, tending and blow-offs. If not handled, these problems can lead to the ultimate failure of a roof.
